Named by AnOther Magazine’s Cathy Edwards as one of the 6 most promising designers of 2010, London-based Shao Yen Chen is launching his own womenswear label.
Shao-Yen Chen is a Central St. Martin’s graduate whose gleaming, all white MA womenswear collection received glowing reviews. His unusal choice of materials; nylon string mixed with cashmere and lycra, has allowed this young designer to challenge the boundries of traditional knitwear creating sexy yet strikingly bold, abstract silhouettes. Chen fuses body-con luxe cashmere skin-tights with tutu-esque nylon layering creating a tension between the expected curves of the female figure and the fluid but graphic, outsized overall shape.
Took over one of Selfridges iconic windows in London as one of 20 selected designers taking part in the store’s Bright Young Things project – a campaign aimed at showcasing the talents of up-and-coming artists and designers through window displays and limited edition collections.
Shao Yen Chen has refined his design skills during his seven-year education at Central Saint Martins College and internships at Alexander McQueen, Hussein Chalayan, and Claire Tough. His works show consistency in delivering delicate, sculptural pieces with innovative textiles. His previous collections were widely published in magazines such as POP, Wonderland, Wallpaper, Dazed Digital and AnOther Online.

Murmur, the brand of designer Andreea Badala, creates daywear and eveningwear for women, but seen through the lens of a powerful eroticism. Modern women dress to seduce and – ultimately – to be undressed: the final expression of self abandon, devotion and love. This video was conceived by the designer and the team of Commitet Post+Production Creatives to illustrate the brand’s vision.

Fashion Film, shot at Kolman’s Kop, a deserted gold mine in the middle of the Namibian desert…. .
We as a team were not interested in developing another fashion editorial that is out of sync with the space around it, or that does not aim to develop an idea past showcasing the latest trend. Therefore, we desired the fashion to be unearthly, raw, human, extreme, and NEW.

Since Andrew Yang burst onto the scene with his extraordinary range of Kouklita’s, there has been non-stop coverage on his show stopping dolls. Not only did Barney’s in NYC commission Yang to produce sixty fashion miniature’s for Vogue’s Fashion Night Out, but the SHOWstudio.com Shop approached the young artist to create six for his European debut at their newest exhibition; In Wolves Clothing: Re-imagining the Doll. Fortunately, the spectacular dolls that feature in the show have already made their way into a stunning fashion film. Yang and Ramon Goni, of NEON Lighthouse produced a visual treat that interacts with the selection of dolls at SHOWstudio.com Shop. But don’t take our word for it. See for yourself.
